Waterfront Hall-bound folk legends perform with local music students

The Fureys celebrate their incredible music catalogue with a special showcase concert at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on Friday 5 January.


Band leaders and co-founders of The Fureys - Eddie and George Furey - met students from Glengormley School of Traditional Music to perform some of the internationally acclaimed folk band’s songs at 2 Royal Avenue in Belfast.


The legends of Irish music and song will be joined on stage during their Waterfront Hall concert by students from Glengormley School of Traditional Music.

Eddie and George got together with the highly respected local music school to highlight and celebrate the role of Irish music and song in bringing people together, forging lifelong friendships and transcending traditional, cultural and generational boundaries.


Glengormley School of Traditional Music have been developing the next generation for over 20 years


Glengormley School of Traditional Music was formed by Ray Morgan as a cross-community space for those interested in learning traditional Irish music and instruments. Over the last 20 years it has grown to become one of the most influential traditional music schools in Northern Ireland, teaching thousands of students along the way.

The legacy of The Fureys


One of Ireland’s most acclaimed and influential folk and traditional bands of all time, The Fureys’ music has been a soundtrack to the lives of fans the world over across six decades. Huge international ambassadors for Irish folk music, they enjoy standing ovations wherever they play, from London’s Royal Albert Hall to the Carnegie Hall in New York.


Renowned for timeless classics like I Will Love You, When You Were Sweet 16, Red Rose Café, Leaving Nancy and From Clare to Here, The Fureys are equally loved on home soil.


The Fureys play Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on Friday 5 January.
