Made in Britain… crafted in lockdown: Former ELO guitarist plugs in his inspiration on new album

Made in Britain is the new studio album by Dave Scott-Morgan, hit songwriter and former guitarist with the legendary Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), created with his multi-talented music tribe, MOrganisation.

Dave Scott-Morgan toured and recorded with ELO - one of Britain’s all-time greatest bands – and worked with iconic groups The Move and Magnum, from his native Birmingham.

Lockdown conveniently found Dave just where he needed to be, in his Birmingham home recording studio, affectionally known as ‘Grimm Doo.’

“Grimm Doo was the place, lockdown was the happening. The lights were low and the recording machine was humming… waiting. There was nowhere else to go but plug in your inspiration and get strumming.” (Dave Scott-Morgan)

Described by Dave Scott-Morgan as “playful and fun, interspersed with some lapses to seriousness,” Made in Britain is a tonic for our 2020 turmoil, replacing the chill of our ‘new normal’ with a heartwarming sonic adventure where the only source of infection is coming from the songs.

Shakespeare… Spitfires… The Beatles… 007… fish & chips… tea… the album pays homage to all things made in Britain. The tracks radiate a distinctly British edge and feel, reflecting Dave’s long and winding journey from Sixties Birmingham to the present day and echoing a rich tapestry of music influences absorbed along the way, lovingly curated and crafted here for our listening pleasure.

The Made in Britain landscape is a place of poetry and beauty. Soulful, velvety vocals soar over enchanting hook-laden melodies populated by heavenly harmonies, rocking, bluesy & acoustic guitars and magical multi-textured keyboards, while the lyrics in each superbly crafted song tell a story that demands your attention.

Tripping the light fantastic with ELO and Jeff Lynne

Dave played guitar, sang backing vocals and played Vocoder during the momentous world tour for ELO's iconic Time album, before lending his voice to the band's follow-up album, Secret Messages and performing on ELO maestro, Jeff Lynne's first solo album, Armchair Theatre.

From riding in ELO’s flying saucer to flying planes!

One more thing about Dave: he may have travelled the globe with ELO in their iconic ‘flying saucer’… but his other job is as a pilot! When Dave’s not creating music he teaches people to fly aeroplanes at Wellesbourne airfield near Stratford-on-Avon.

Made in Britain, the new album by Dave Scott-Morgan's MOrganisation, is now available from davescottmorgan.com and usual online platforms, including iTunes and Amazon.
