Gig’n the Bann in Portglenone...
There’s music-themed fun for all in Portglenone this weekend courtesy of Gig’n the Bann 2022 (Fri 7 - Sun 9 October). Tune in to all of the festivities with Mairéad Walls CD Launch (this Friday, 9pm) at Crosskeys Inn. Take part in the Music and Singing Workshops at theBank Building in Main Street on Saturday from 9.30am. Then on Saturday night the Wild Duck Inn hosts the Festival Concert featuring More Power To Your Elbow and Moira Crawley and Family. Then it’s back to the Wild Duck Inn on Sunday evening at 7pm for Praise’n the Bann.
Get ‘All Shook Up’ in Armagh...
Award-winning Banbridge Musical Society make their debut at The Market Place Theatre, Armagh with All Shook Up (running to this Saturday 8 October), a musical comedy with a score created from the works of Elvis Presley. Loosely based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, this hilarious hip-swivelling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumping out of your Blue Suede Shoes with classics including Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock and Love Me Tender. Go Adventure Caving at Florencecourt...
If you’ve never visited the Marble Arch Caves at Florencecourt you may like to go Adventure Caving with a special guided tour this Saturday (8 October). You’ll explore cave passages, negotiate boulder chambers and clamber through the well-known flyover to emerge into the public tour of the Caves before navigating your way out, muddy and ecstatic! Two sessions are taking place: 9.30am - 12 noon and 1 - 3.30pm. Registration will be at the Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre upon arrival. This is an adults only event.
Take a deep-sea family theatre adventure in Newry...
Just the ticket for families with children aged 1 - 10, The Family Shark Show brings professional theatre fun to Newry Town Hall this Sunday (9 October at 2pm). Venture into the deep blue sea with a magical cast of characters that includes Olivia the Octopus, Tommy the Turtle, Alex the Alligator and Sammy the Sealion. Opening at the Lyric Theatre this Saturday 8 October, Propaganda: A New Musical by double Ivor Novello- nominated composer Conor Mitchell, is an old-fashioned Soviet love story with a Broadway-influenced score, a live 14-piece orchestra and stellar cast. Support Baby Loss Awareness at Peatlands Park...
Starting from Peatlands Park, Dungannon, Our Little Remembrance Ride (this Sunday 9 October, 10am - 3pm) is a unique event helping to kickstart the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness week. Hosted by the Little Forget Me Nots Trust for bikers and their biking buddies, the Little Remembrance Ride takes participants around Lough Neagh before finishing up again at Peatlands Park.
You don’t have to be part of the Remembrance Ride to take part. Community begins with connection and the organisers are asking local people to share the event on their socials to build awareness and to support more bereaved families in Northern Ireland.
